With the innovative approaches to marketing that are available in the sign industry today, finding the right options for your business's specific needs can be challenging. Wall Mural Epic Signs & Graphics

The Washington Post contacted Epic Signs & Graphics with the need for a backdrop. The Washington Post, and Jones Day would be moderating the republican debate coverage, and not just any background mural would do! The televised presentation was quickly approaching, and our client was looking for a quick installation the morning of the debate. With the need for efficiency and a fresh design, our staff began the task!

The backdrop mural for our client was printed using the latest in printing technology. We used vinyl panels that measured to a final 12 feet high by 25 feet long for the completed sign. The individual panels allow for a more productive installation on the glass surface that we were adhering the product to, though in depth planning is required to ensure the right measurements are taken. The survey assisted with our need to have this mural installed correctly on the first attempt of application, so that our client would be ready in time for the debate. With the conclusion of the project, we were ecstatic with the results. Our client was happy, and the product was provided quickly, effectively, and cost efficiently.

Dearborn, Inc in Berea, Oh Gets A Building Sign For Their Operation

Posted by John Grigoli

Sep 15, 2015 11:00:00 AM

Dearborn, Inc located in Berea, Ohio has been in business since 1947 but still did not have a sign on the front of their building when they called. We received the call and they explained they wanted their customers to easily identify their facility when they turn the corner so they would not miss it, plus they wanted to be seen from their unique position below a bridge. We were excited to get the call and provide answers.

Building Sign Berea, Ohio by Epic Signs & Graphics

There were challenges to install this sign, in particular the horizontal corrugated facing.  In order to get the letters and logo to mount in place we had to drill support holes in specific locations on the flat face portion of the corrugation. Dearborn, Inc also wanted to make sure the sign was made with all standard color acrylics with no painting. The letters and logo are made with 3/4" thick acrylic. The logo was made in peices so that the black and orange parts were assembled like a puzzle which required precision planning and routing. Each letter and the logo has a 3 to 4 inch rod set into the back, that is placed inside the drilled hole with strong adhesive.

Building Sign Berea Ohio

In normal circumstances, building signs like this one would have the logo and letters mounted securely on metal raceway tracking so the whole sign could be installed at once since it would be in one peice. We worked with their vision to have the letters and logo be the only hardware visable. WIth careful planning and admittedly some adjusting along the way to install, we were able to provide a professional looking sign on the front of their company as they dreamed. Using effective business signs on the front of your company makes it legitimite in the eys of the customer. Once they see your company with a sign, it announces who you are, and  of course the style reflects company culture.

Dearborn, Inc is a high precision fabricator that can solve the most complex problems or provide highly specialized parts. They serve the aerospace, nuclear, paper, plastics, medical and steel industries. They provide internal machine components that are well beyond ordinary and they serve some of the biggest companies in the nation. They have built this reputation over the last 50 years.

If you need to brand your company on the outside with business signs, give Epic Signs & Graphics a call for a free consultation. We also like to help solve complex problems and we are ready to help so send us a note through the portal below.

HC Murray Group Installs Office Signs in Independence, Oh

Posted by John Grigoli

A gem of an office sign is installed at HC Murray Group in Independence, Ohio for their new office space.

Office sign Independence Oh

HC Murray Group moved into a new office space in Independence, Ohio and called us for ideas to install a nice office sign as a focus for their entry way. We came on site during construction and reviewed several available materials and narrowed it down to acrylic or aluminum lettering. Our survey included taking photos of the proposed wall space and taking measurements. We then provided a rendering of the options on the picture of the wall so they can see if it looks like the vision they anticipated. Above and below pictures capture the end results and they were thrilled.

Independence business sign by Epic Signs

The top line of the office sign is made of 10 inch high aluminum letters with a brush finish approximately 1/2" thick. The black line and the black letters are made of shinny acrylic that is 3/8 inches thick. All letter components are offset from the wall 1/4" to give it a slight shadow affect which is enhanced by the spot light from above. We arrived with a pattern of the display done on paper that was tapped to the wall. This provides a check for the client to see how high they will be and to make sure it is properly centered as expected. The pattern includes targets for drilling holes. The holes match exactly the studs protruding from the back of the letter so they fit neatly into the wall for a secure snug fit. This method takes a little more time but the results provide a quality install so the letters and logos do not move around afterwards. The studs are fitted with a sleeve so that the offset looks professional.

Epic Signs & Graphics has access to many types of letters for interior or exterior business sign applications. Metal letters can be fabricated as a cast or from flat material. Cast letters are shown below. We have access to several foundries around the country to produce aluminum or bronze cast letters. Cast metal letters have a distiinctive look that are many times, used in universities or companies such as banks.  They have a thick and stately look and are very durable.

Pictured above are flat cut letters and are just as the name implies, flat on both sides. This material provides opportunties for specialized cuts to do logos or high style lettering. They are fabricated with high precision either using high pressure water or lasers. It is possible to use aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, brass, or copper. Thicknesses can be from 1/8" up to 1/2" and can be as tall as 42 inches. We will provide a review of your proposed art work to see if it could be custom cut or we can modify designs if needed.

HC Murray is a group of dedicated and experienced insurance professionals. Their staff takes pride in being curteous and focus on the client rather than what is best for the insurance company. They provide insurance for employee health programs, business, long-term care, medicare and disability.

The Henry Company Installs New Business Signs in LaGrange Ohio

Posted by John Grigoli

Aug 27, 2015 8:30:00 AM

We received a call from The Henry to estimate a sign project for their newly aquired company located in LaGrange, Ohio. The project called for directory signs installed around the facility and exterior building signs including large blue dimensional letters and flat panel signs. Below are pictures and a run down of project details.

Once we received their plan, we went to work reviewing and determinng an estimate. Because we were responsive and timely with the estimate, we won the opportunity to fabricate and install all of the signs. The project included various business signs including directory signs on the exterior of the building as well as on the interior. We also installed exterior channel letter signs and a flat panel sign in the dock area.

Business sign Epic Signs & Graphics

The directory signs for the interior and exterior were cut from poly metal 1/8" thick. Typically there are 2 brands we use either Maxmetal or Dibond. There is a thin layer of aluminum on each side and a PVC core in the center. It is durable and long lasting for exterior use and tough for interior industrial areas. Poly metal will come in 4 x 8 foot panels. We cut those down to size and applied full color digitally printed vinyl and laminate for protection to create the directory signs you see in the pictures.

The large blue Henry sign you see are called channel letters. typically these are used as illuminated letters you see on top of retail building stores in plaza's. For this project we left the LED bulbs out and bolted the letters through the inside directly to the building. The back and sides are made of aluminum and cut and shaped with various machines. the faces are made with acrylic. In this case a special blue color was used to match their corporate logo. The acrylic can come in various standard colors or in some cases have vinyl applied and yet other case they can be painted.

Building sign by Epic Signs & Graphics

Once we secured the project plans we visited the plant and walked through all the areas for the sign implementation. We took pictures, noted space sizes and checked for obstacles that may be in the way. We then ensured all plans including installation were determined ahead of time so when the signs came out of production we were ready to execute. The result was a resounding success as you can see in the pictures. The general manager was pleased with the results and even ordered another sign project for the other side of the building. Previously their building virtually had no identity. Now when you drive down the street towards their manufacuring plant, you can clearly see their name on the building and it delivers the impression that it is a professional organization. And when you drive onto the location, you can see clearly and confirm the location of the building entry points and truck drivers are clearly directed towards the dock area.

Formerly known as WDG, Henry is a US based company that provides products that manage the tranmission of water, air, vapor and energy in buildings so that sustainability, energy use, environmental and livability is improved. In Medina they manufacture silicone products and granulate post consumer roof membranes into rubber compounds to replace other fillers normally used in roofing systems.

At Epic Signs & Graphics we take extra steps to ensure plans are developed so that problems are minimized when implemented. With careful planning and experience, we save hassles in the late stages of implementation. Give us a call or contact us through our web site below to get a free consultation.

Steps Academy in Parma Ohio Installs an Epic Dimensional Sign

Posted by John Grigoli

Aug 18, 2015 8:30:00 AM

Steps Academy has a new home in Parma, Ohio and now it is official with a large dimensional exterior building sign that was installed last week. We were contacted by Steps Academy to have this sign installed before they moved in for the first day of school. This blog will show how this sign was designed, built and installed.

Building Sign in Parma, Ohio

In the picture above, you can see the large sign installed on an exterior brick wall. The sign is over 80 inches wide and 60 inches high. It has a thickness of 2 inches when including the lettering or shield. In the photo below, you can see how the sign has 3 layers involved including the large base piece, the shield, and the griffin or letters. Each layer is made with 1/2" thick acrylic.

Dimensional sign in Parma Ohio

Steps Academy is a center of excellence for autism. The center was started to meet the needs of children with autism in ages from 2 1/2 years to 22. They work to improve communication and language skills, fine and gross motor coordination, social, play and imitation. Steps uses Applied Behavior Analysis which uses research based teaching methods along with data analysis to develop life and social skils. Steps acadamy focuses on the individual rather than the behavior so they look for how they attempt to communicate through their behaviors and create individual plans of development.

When we recieved the call from Steps Academy, we quickly made an appointment to survey the location to determine size and install requirements for their business sign. They submitted their pictorial vision to us through our website and we listened to their citeria for signage. We took the survey information and their vision and determined the best materials that would be durable enough for outdoors and yet make their expected budget number.

The sign has a main base peice that is made of 1/2" thick acrylic painted black. It was routed precisley to the shape they gave us. It was so large it had to be done in two peices and fused together. The base part was covered with premium vinyl printed with full color graphics and a laminate applied. The sheild was also made with 1/2" thick acrylic, painted black and adhered to the base peice with high strength glue. The griffin was again made with 1/2" thick acrylic and also applied the same way. Finally, the dimensional lettering was made with formed plastic and also glued to the surface. Notice the detailed vinyl work applied to the face of the letters. On the back it was installed with indian style cleats that was anchored to the wall and a final support peice installed at the bottom for support. Once it was assembled, the bottom cleat was centered on the wall, leveled and placed into position with good old fashion muscle!

This truely custom building sign has many parts but it really deliveres their vision. It also adds a professional appearance to the building so that visitors know that Steps Academy is a serious organization ficused on the students and they take pride in helping people live full productive lives. Because of our high end wide format printer, the sign has a quality feel to go along with the black edges to provide depth. The size of the sign is important as well since it has to be seen from the road as people arrive.

Epic Signs & Graphics is proud to work with an organization that has a focus to help others. One of the things I have found to be good for the soul since starting this company is the ability to meet interesting people and organizations that focus on helping other people like Steps Academy. We are committed to helping companies improve their message through high quality signage wether that is on the outside or the inside. We can help with directory signs, suite signs, wall murals window graphics and even graphics for floors and ceilings! Give us a call today for a free consultation and quote!

New Office Signs Installed at Crossroads Group in RichField, Ohio

Posted by John Grigoli

Crossroads Group recently called us to install signs throughout their new offices in Richfield, Ohio. They were in need of impressive interior office signs and wanted very custom work completed, so they imediately turned to Epic Signs & Graphics!

In the picture above, you can see a sign displaying Crossroads name and logo.  Metalic, dimensional letters provide a classy look throughout the office.  Depicted below are state-of-the-art office signs bearing the names and logos of partners and start up ventures.

Wall signs by Epic Signs & Graphics

In order to provide the most ideal signs to Crossroads, we measured up the available wall spaces and provided renderings of the completed walls. We also created a large pattern to check for size on the wall so they were comfortable with centering and proportion within the office. We also created mock logo signs to place on the walls so they could also see how they looked positioned on the walls.

For the Crossroads Group name and logo we used large, 3" thick, dimensional letters made from high-density urethane (HDU) and acrylic, custom colored, laminated faces.  The logo was created with a chrome polish face and painted black sides, which give it a further dimensional look.  The 2" thick, HDU, individual company logos are also painted black on the sides. The acrylic faces are routed on the backside and painted 2 colors.  The brushed finish letters on the door pictured below are flat aluminum, laser cut 1/8" thick and mounted with VHB tape directly to the door.

Aluminum brush metal letters Richfield, Oh

A word about high density urethane: HDU is available in various thicknesses, generally 1", 2", or 3".  HDU, also known as sign foam, is a great alternative to wood for interior and exterior signage. In fact, many signs that appear to be carved from wood are actually carved out of sign foam. Sign foam is, light weight, easy to fabricate, easy to paint, and easy to glue.  In addition, sign foam is resistant to rot, moisture, and insects.  It can be used for carved and dimensional signs.  Other advantages are that sgn foam is easy to shape and machine, it can replace wood for carved signs, it has good surface structure and low dust, it is resistant to organic solvents, and it can be formed with a variety of carving techniques including: routing, sand-blasting, and carving with wood working tools.
The Crossroads Group was started in 2007 for the purpose of acquiring and starting up ventures held by their partners, Paul Gabrail, Andrew Strigle, Michael Gabrail, and others. They look to invest in real estate, currently operating businesses, and start-up ventures. Currently, they own and manage over 800 apartment suites and a 50,000 square foot office building alongside their partners, Select Investment Group and United Assets. They also have land slated for development, outdoor/indoor storage facilities, product manufacturing businesses, a lending arm, and small start-ups in who's potential they believe.

Are you moving into a new space and want it to stand out when clients visit?  Contact us for a free consultation at Epic Signs and Graphics today for high quality office signs, conference room signs, and suite signs.  We would love to help design and bring to life your office areas!

Archer Goes Epic With A Large Wall Banner In Cleveland, Oh

Posted by John Grigoli

Aug 6, 2015 5:50:00 PM

Do you need to cover a really large area and get noticed? Or maybe you need to let people know about a new service or product or that you are moving into a new location? Building banners offer a way to make a splash or statement because of the size and color printing now available. Banner widths can now be done 120" wide or more in one print pass. And it can be done in full process printing too. Virtually any color you can think of is achievable. Because of this it is possible to cover a large area on say....a building!
Banner in Cleveland by Epic Signs & Graphics
The wall banner in the above picture is 1100 square feet and is made with 18 oz material banner vinyl. Some applications are done with 13 oz weight material. For interior or short term use, there is a 9 oz version. We also also have a mesh banner available to allow wind to blow through and provide stability so it will not become a dangerous wind sail  Mesh banners, however, will have reduced color vibrancy since part of material is missing with all the little holes. Since I'm reviewing vinyl types, there are styles that have a smooth finish as well. We tend to use this for when close up visibility is required like for trade show pull-up banner systems. The print results are of high quality, providing a leg-up on your product display. Check out your neighbors booth at the next trade show and see what I mean. Most people source banner displays from an unknown website and find out when it is too late how they get such plow pricing.....they use a low cost weave pattern vinyl and low cost inks, yuck, not good for your product.
Vinyl banner made in Parma, Ohio
MAM Property Group approached us for their color banner idea they wanted installed in the Archer apartment building located on West 9th street Downtown Cleveland. They wanted one placed on the wall on Westh 9th and another installed on West 10. As seen in the pictures, they were both secured directly to the wall and each provides great visability from down the street due to the solid 18 oz material we provided. When they called, we jumped into action by providing proofs based on the art options provided, we reworked the sizes based on the design review commitee feedback and verified the wall sizes versus the proposed banner sizes by mocking it on a photo of the building. When we designed the banner, we ensured it was reinforced on the edges with webbing and sewn all around to reduce the chance of the vinyl banner tearing from stress.

Ripcho Studios in Cleveland Ohio Get New Van Decals For Their Fleet!

Posted by John Grigoli

Jul 28, 2015 11:00:00 AM

Recently, we were contacted by Ripcho Studios, a family-owned professional photography studio located on Lorain Ave, in Cleveland. They called us because they did not have van graphics on their fleet of 10 trucks, and they needed an expert sign company to design, print, and install them.
 Truck letters Cleveland, OH
In the image to the above, you can see a picture of the side of one of ten vans to which we applied decals for Ripcho Studios. In this picture, you can see how vibrant and clear the vehicle graphics are. In the picture below, you can see the same view customers driving behind them see.  Using the back of a vehicle for decals provides a great advertising opportunity at red lights! We think the results turned out great!
Van graphics Cleveland, OH
Ripcho Studios in Cleveland, Ohio is a great local succesful company that has been serving
the area for over 65 years. This company was Ohio's first school photographer to go digital and has been a continuous leader in the market because of that strategy. They provide services for portraits, student management system, programs for seniors, dances, events, graduations and more! If you live in Ohio or Pennsylvania and need a photographer, consider giving them a csall.

To create the truck lettering for the Ripcho Studio vehicle, we used the print and cut method.  This involved printing the graphics on premium vinyl, laminating them with a protective coating, and then sending it over to our plotter to route out the letters. After this, we removed any unnecessary vinyl to leave just the images.  The remaining vinyl of letters and logo was then transfered to tape so we could apply the truck decals to the sides and backs of ten vans.  The next step of this job is adding graphics to two Prius cars.
Do you know how many people see your vehicle every day? Every hour?  Every person you drive past is a potential customer.  Well-designed truck graphics can generate many leads for your business.  A sign that gets noticed makes a difference. Truck graphics are incredibly affordable and efficient way to advertise to a wide range of customers on a daily basis and they get to see how much your organization gets around town.

Exterior Panel Sign Installed in Shaker Hts, Ohio For Solar Energy Project!

Posted by John Grigoli

Jul 17, 2015 9:30:00 AM

First Unitarian Church of Cleveland called Epic Signs & Graphics in search of an exterior sign to install to demonstrate their commitment to the green movement. They wanted to know what it would take to fabricate and install an exterior business sign or a plaque to explain their solar panels they installed over a year ago.  Epic Signs & Graphics was more than happy to help, especially if it means a push for green power.

Exterior business sign Shaker Hts, OHF
In the picture above you can see the resulting panel sign that was installed on two posts. It was made for out door durability by using a material called polymetal that is commonly used for exterior business signs. We used a 1/4" thick sheet of the ploymetal, trimmed it down to size and applied a premium vinyl over the face for the border and lettering design. The vinyl was printed on an Hewlett Packard 60" wide format digital printer and then laminated for extra protection. We then used 1/4" through bolts to secure it to the posts.
The solor panel array is made up of many individual panels and provides 80% of the power required to run the church. It is amazing how it blends-in to the area as I did not realize it was a solar array when I parked for the first visit. It seems to be an ordinary carport until you realize it serves an even bigger purpose. Not only does it protect 38 vehicles, it also collects rain water into barrels that is used to water the gardens.
First Unitarian Church
When we were approached by First Unitarian Church of Cleveland, they were undecided on the type of sign. We discussed the idea of a formal bronze plaque similar to what was already in the garden. We provide pricing for the plaque and the sign panel and the commitee determined it would be best if a more noticable panel sign was installed. It would get more attention since it would be included as part of the structure and visitors would be more likely to read about the technolgy. This is definetly a product that needs to be shared around the world. The other delima was how to install since there was limited places for new poles and limited places to attach on the structure. We suggested the sign be placed on existing poles.
Solar Sign Project Cleveland
Since this is an exterior building sign, we purposely chose certain types of materials. First, the polymetal is an all purpose substrate used in the sign industry. It has a thin aluminum skin on both sides and it has a thin core made of PVC inbetween to provide support and strength. Secondly, we used a premium calendared vinyl, appropriate for flat smooth surfaces. Third, the inks are water based, yet provides plenty of brightness. Finally, we applied a laminate over the print to protect the ink from out door elements and for some protection against scratching. The combination of all these materials makes a strong sign that will last for many years to come and be able to tell the story of this solar project.
If you are looking for a way to effectively display information that has to be seen, look no further than Epic Signs & Graphics! We listen to you about the problem you would like to solve and we develop solutions dependent on technical and budgetary factors. Give us a call today for a free consultation.
